Printmaker

I grew up a short bike ride away from Lake Michigan and spent lots of time exploring at the lake shore and nearby woods. As an adult, I continue to enjoy spending time near and in Vermont’s lakes and rivers.

I’ve always loved making things. Creating and being in nature heal and ground me. I’ve been lucky to be an art teacher, encouraging young people in the creative process and learning from them.

At present I’m immersed in exploring printmaking. I strive to continue to grow as a person and as an artist.

Abstract Artist

Susan Cornick is an abstract artist. She describes her creative process as intuitive and spontaneous; preferring on-the-spot responsiveness from the medium and materials and improvisational expression over planned composition, she is guided by whatever feels necessary at the moment.

Working with a variety of color palettes, materials, and mediums, Susan’s work moves from sculptural, to collage, decoupage, and abstract expressionist-style paintings. She has exhibited in group and solo shows in Vermont, New York, and Jersey City, NJ, participated in numerous art festivals/markets, and completed metalworking courses at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and ceramics at various New York City studios.

Samantha M. Eckert earned her MFA in Visual Art in 2015 from Vermont College of Fine Arts, Montpelier, VT; a Certification in Museum Studies from the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, NM; and a bachelor’s from Vermont College of Norwich University, Montpelier, VT.

She has attended several artist residencies including, Anderson Ranch Art Center, Snowmass, CO; Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT; La Macina di San Cresci, Greve, Chianti, Italy; and she was a two-time artist in residence at The Studios at MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA. Eckert has exhibited in MA, NH, NM, VT, and Italy.

There is something so satisfying about moving metal. The process of hand fabricating allows me to work spontaneously, Letting one thing lead to an- other. I am able to manipulate my materials to create movement and space in a solid form. I love the engineering challenges in making such intimate sculptures. I am drawn to the inherent obsessiveness of creating these min- ute compositions, all the while seeking a balance of precision and chaos in each piece.

Darkroom Manager

Albo is a photographer, cinematographer, and musician exploring magical realism, pictorialism, and photography’s poetic and tactile forms.

Studying cinematography at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, she worked for over 10 years on narrative and commercial film and video before shifting back to still images and analog methods. She still provides high quality photography and video work for small companies and artists.

As a classically trained vocalist and violinist Albo plays traditional Irish music, mythological airs, experimental folk rock, and other realms as whim directs. As the Darkroom Manager, she provides open hours, events, workshops and classes.

Photographer & Videographer

Matthew Gustafson, a Fine Art Photographer since 2019, believes in evoking emotions and storytelling through his images. He captures energy in various settings, from concerts to weddings and landscapes. In 2022, he was named Best Vermont Wedding Photographer by Lake Champlain Chocolates for his focus on encapsulating the essence of events.

His love for music drives him to create compelling photos for musicians, delving into their identity through their music. Matthew’s ultimate goal is to transport viewers on a brief journey through his work into the outdoors with fine art landscapes, urban life, and chasing light.

Designer-craftsman in wood

David Hurwitz designs and builds contemporary furniture pieces, one at a time, using hand carving along with traditional methods of furniture construction and joinery. His work has been exhibited widely in galleries and museums, and is in public and private collections throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada, Mexico and Europe.

David has been doing woodworking since the age of six, and has been a self-employed furniture maker since 1993. His work has been featured in many regional, national, and international publications and design books, and he has received numerous design awards for his work.

Musician/singer-songwriter

Jennifer, now known as Oum Kamar (meaning “Mother of the Moon” in Arabic) is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter whose family is deeply rooted in Randolph, Vermont. She has a background in classical Western, Arabic, and North African styles.

Her original sound can be described as American Folk North African Fusion. She plays the Arabic lute while singing original compositions about love, nature, and spirituality.

Designer & Multidisciplinary Artist

Kate Kauffman is a designer, merchandiser & sculptural artist with a background in metal casting, printmaking & retail design. She works in a variety of mediums from woodworking to textiles and mixed media sculpture. Her business Grease & Glitter Studio offers creative retail support to independent small businesses through visual merchandising, store design & custom window displays. Outside of her business, she continues to develop her personal practice, exploring themes of growth & grief in a variety of mediums.

Retired farmer and advisor in Planning Sustainable System and enjoying nature through creative arts.

Acrylic mixed media artist

Babs is a 60+ artist who has recently found her voice through art. Relocating to Vermont just before the Covid, she found that her love of Steampunk and fantasy, in general, needed to find a way to be expressed. Her mixed media style is different, and her poured acrylics have also found a way into her life as an artist. Originally from NYC, Babs is quite happy here in Randolph.

Stephanie Nyzio was born and raised in Massachusetts and now resides in Bethel, VT. Her current work would be described as a union of things she holds dear and is very passionate about. The artist’s love for the natural world, drawing as foundation, and environmental issues. Nyzio’s wish is to inform the viewer on different topics affecting the ecosystem while evoking a visceral reaction. Another aspect of her work is to attempt through careful observation with a meditative practice to capture wild beauty in a unique way. In addition, Stephanie has had a long career in Art Education.

In photographic portraits and scenes of rural life, fifth-generation Vermonter Jack Rowell captures a society in transition, where survival depends on timeless virtues—creativity, resilience—and a certain amount of luck.

Jack's photography is part of Vermont's cultural heritage, but its importance transcends our state boundaries. As Americans struggle through one of the most divisive periods in our nation’s history, Jack’s work is a reminder that the human story is one of both hardship and triumph, and that to see ourselves as we truly are demands love, humor, irony, and respect.

Bailey Wood is a photographer based in Randolph VT. Photography has been his obsession for the last 5 years, studying and learning any chance he has. He shoots a wide variety of subjects, but mainly focuses on portraiture and product photography, while also selling fine art prints of his personal work.

Multimedia Artist

Sophie Wood is a sequin lover, a poet, and a clown. As co-founder of The Royal Frog Ballet, Wood’s work focuses on creating large-scale performance events with collectively powered imagination using living landscapes, textiles, light, papier mache, the written word, dance, ritual and comedy, though she also loves to dwell in the small-scale of her notebook. She revels in working with young folks in rural Vermont making outdoor theater and art-in-community. A wordsmith, goofball, and lover of parades, Wood aims to build, plant, and tend joy wherever she goes.

Library

The Vermont Weavers Guild is a non-profit educational association. Its purpose is to increase technical proficiency and artistic experience by providing a well-rounded educational program, to promote and maintain high standards of weaving, as well as related fiber arts, to share our knowledge and ideas and to bring together hand-weavers.

Monthly weaver meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month in September, October, November, February, March, April, and May at the White River Craft Center

Handweaver/Designer/Instructor

Weaving is in Susan’s DNA with ancestors working in the fiber world. After pursuing several intellectual endeavors, she has come home to fiber. She teaches numerous weaving classes at the White River Craft Center in Randolph. She taught at the “Fletcher Farm School for the Arts and Crafts in Ludlow, Vermont and at weaving guilds throughout New England for 40 years. Susan has been President of the New England Weaver Seminar with 17 member guilds. She has been a member of the Weavers Guild of Boston, New Hampshire Weavers Guild and since 1982 a member of the Vermont Weavers Guild.

Studio Craft and Material Studies

Pamela Wilson is a visual artist working in fiber, clay and natural pigments. She focuses on place-based making, material studies and traditional handcraft techniques. In addition to making and exhibiting throughout New England, she organizes art-gatherings and third-space art experiences where participants engage in collective handwork and intergenerational learning. Her current third-space projects include long-term residencies at the Aldrich Public Library, the White River Craft Center and Green Mountain Linen.
